Trident Technologies and 3D Research Corporation have formed Trident3,
a joint venture under the U.S. Small Business Administration’s 8(a) Mentor/Protégé
Program. The purpose of the venture is to provide world-class technology services to federal customers.
The Mentor-Protégé program is offered under the 8(a) Business Development
program. It is intended to enhance the capability of the 8(a) company to successfully compete
in federal procurements.
The Mentor firm (3D Research) and the Protégé (Trident) entered into
a written agreement outlining the responsibilities of both companies under the agreement. The
SBA reviewed and approved the agreement and provides ongoing monitoring of the success of the relationship.

3D Research Corporation was started as an 8(a), woman owned small business in 1997. The company provides
engineering services to include network, systems, software, information assurance, test, and integration.
The company received awards as one of the Inc 500’s fastest growing companies in 2003 and 2004. 3D
participated in the mentor protégé program through the Missile Defense Agency under CSC (2000-2003) and
again under Northrop Grumman (2003-2005). The company was acquired by Schafer Corporation in December 2005
and operates as a wholly owned subsidiary.
3D Research Corporation has provided significant contributions to many DoD programs such as Aviation and
Missile Command Expedited Professional and Engineering Support Services (AMCOM EXPRESS), Brigade Combat Team
Modernization (formerly Future Combat Systems), Ground-Based Midcourse Defense (GMD), and Cruise Missile Defense System (CMDS).
